Bathroom Remodel: Which Shower Door Is Right for You?

The shower door is one of the most neglected aspects of a bathroom remodel. That’s because most people focus on whether they want one or two sinks, increasing bathroom storage space, or what type of material to showcase on the bathroom floor. But the shower door is an important feature of any bathroom, especially when it comes to aesthetics. The right shower door can make or break the entire look of the bathroom. But which shower door is right for you?

Which Shower Door Is Right for You?

Sliding Shower Doors

Sliding shower doors are a great option for maximizing space because they do not open out into the room.

They can be framed or unframed and do a good job of keeping water inside from escaping.

The addition of an the outside handle that spans the length of the sliding door, provides a place to hang towels.

While sliding shower are great space savers, the track they slide on can be more difficult to clean than some modern designs because mold, mildew and rust can get trapped along the track.

Pivot Shower Doors

Pivot shower doors come in a variety of styles and materials. An unframed door has a more modern, open feel to it while the border of a framed door can provide a nice accent in the bathroom.

Tall pivot shower doors that go all the way to the floor are excellent at sealing in water and steam.

Frameless Shower Doors

If you want a clean and modern look, frameless shower doors may be the way to go. And they’re available in either form – pivot or sliding.

Frameless shower doors are excellent for showcasing the interior of a beautifully tiled or stone shower, providing a seamless view and creating an open feel.

Frameless shower doors without tracks are also easy to clean because there is no frame or tracks where mold, soap scum, and mildew can hide.
